    Photo Workshops

Summer in the Swiss Alps. As the weather warms and days get longer, the Swiss Alps unveil a vibrant landscape: verdant meadows against snow-capped peaks. The crisp air invites hiking, biking, and exploring scenic trails. Alpine lakes mirror the stunning vistas, ideal for swimming or relaxation. Quaint villages with charming chalets reveal local traditions amid breathtaking scenery. It’s a serene yet adventurous season, perfect for escaping into nature’s splendor in Switzerland’s alpine haven.

Photography, cycling, and more. Each day will include photography workshops and bike trips. You’ll have the option to wake early for a morning photo shoot, or sleep in and lounge; join other guests on an afternoon ebike ride, or learn new tips on photo processing; visit nearby villages, take gondola rides to high peaks, hike endless trails, lay by the pool—or do it all! There’s no “one size fits all” day on this trip.

    Photography Shoots and Worshops

A week of photography workshops. This trip blends two of our favorite passions: cycling and photography. Each day will offer both the option to work on your photography or to explore by bikeor to do both. Formal morning photo shoots amongst the spires and monasteries, plus late light shoots at dusk will highlight photography’s greatest ally: magic light. Magic light is that soft glow that illuminates the world in a way that brings out colors that even the largest Crayola pack hasn’t considered. It’s the light that kisses our eyes and our camera sensors, leaving any semblance of harsh contrast behind.

As a professional photographer, Russell Graves has been studying light as it hits his eye and camera sensor his entire life. He’s learned not only camera techniques that help capture an image, but how to anticipate and prepare so that he is ready when those magical moments reveal themselves. And, lucky for us, Russell will be with us this week to teach us what he’s learned, to improve our ability to see both with and without a camera, to help us understand what being prepared entails, and to improve our ability to capture and process beautiful photos. And let’s face it, everyone who longs to go to beautiful places wants photographs that do the original justice.

    A Cycling Wonderland

Cycling in the Alps. The Swiss Alps is famous for its high peaks and meadows, as wells as the verdant valleys that flow between them. And connecting all of these amazing places is a network of small lanes that meander in all directions high and low. We’ll spend most of our cycling adventures exploring these hidden lanes, taking us through landscapes where wildflowers, farms, and animals extend as far as the eye can see. Traveling from village to village, field to field, we’ll be tempted to stop so often to take in the sights that we’ll wonder if we’ll ever reach our destination. But the destination isn’t really important at all if every view along the way beckons us with the same determination.

    Zermatt and Grindewald
Zermatt and Andermatt. We’ll stay in fabulous hotels in the car-free town of Zermatt and the high-mountain village of Grindewald. Both serve as gateways to spectacular peaks that surround in all directions. From Zermatt, we’ll gondola to some of Switzerland’s highest and most famous peaks, including those surrounding the Matterhorn. From Grindewald, we’ll explore the unbelievable Lauterbrunnen Valley, with shear mountain faces and waterfalls cascading from both sides, plus Murren and Wengen, each perched on the cliff ledge above and accessible only by gondola. From our two base locations, we’ll have access to photograph, cycle, hike, and explore some of the most spectacular treasures that Switzerland has to offer.
