Summer in the Alps. The Austrian Alps in summer present a mesmerizing panorama of natural beauty and outdoor activities. Verdant meadows, adorned with colorful wildflowers, stretch beneath snow-kissed peaks. Crystal-clear alpine lakes reflect the breathtaking scenery, creating a serene atmosphere. Hiking and biking trails crisscross the landscape, revealing awe-inspiring vistas. The soothing sounds of cowbells resonate through quaint villages, preserving the region’s rustic charm. Summer unveils local festivals celebrating alpine traditions and offers a taste of hearty cuisine. The Alps in this season offer a tranquil retreat and an opportunity to immerse oneself in nature’s grandeur.
A cycling smorgasbord. There are many options when considering cycling routes through the Alps. There are steep slopes with rocky singletrack; there are bike paths that follow gentle river grades; there are paved lanes and small gravel paths that meander up and down hillsides; and there are busy roads carrying tourists in cars and RVs to all the most popular spots. Of the choices, we’ll avoid technical singletrack and busy roads and fill our days with the little lanes and paths that take us away from crowds—to the places where pure cycling joy lives. Lucky for us, the Alps that most of the world knows for skiing and trekking is also a cycling mecca, surrounded by magnificence and peaceful quiet.
