Spectacular Corfu. Nestled off the west coast of the Greek mainland, Corfu embodies an irresistible blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Influenced by Venetian, French, and British legacies, the island’s vibrant culture is reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and spirited atmosphere. With a UNESCO designated Old Town, lively tavernas, and warm locals, Corfu’s allure lies in its picturesque charm and vibrant ambiance, making it the ideal backdrop to blend our cycling adventures with a lively photo workshop week.

Photography, cycling, and more. Each day will include photography workshops and bike trips. You’ll have the option to wake early for a morning photo shoot, or sleep in and lounge; join other guests on an afternoon ebike ride, or stay back to learn new tips on photo processing; visit Old Town Kerkyra and monasteries, or hike through endless olive groves; visit a hidden beach to swim in the clear blue sea, or lay by the pool and napor you can do it all! There’s no “one size fits all” day on this trip.

    Photography Shoots and Workshops

A week of photography workshops. This trip blends two of our favorite passions: cycling and photography. Each day will offer both the option to work on your photography or to explore by bikeor to do both. Formal morning photo shoots amongst the spires and monasteries, plus late light shoots at dusk will highlight photography’s greatest ally: magic light. Magic light is that soft glow that illuminates the world in a way that brings out colors that even the largest Crayola pack hasn’t considered. It’s the light that kisses our eyes and our camera sensors, leaving any semblance of harsh contrast behind.

As a professional photographer, Russell Graves has been studying light as it hits his eye and camera sensor his entire life. He’s learned not only camera techniques that help capture an image, but how to anticipate and prepare so that he is ready when those magical moments reveal themselves. And, lucky for us, Russell will be with us this week to teach us what he’s learned, to improve our ability to see both with and without a camera, to help us understand what being prepared entails, and to improve our ability to capture and process beautiful photos. And let’s face it, everyone who longs to go to beautiful places wants photographs that do the original justice.

To learn more about Russell Graves and see a gallery of his fabulous work, visit his website at www.HackberryFarmTexas.com or www.RussellGraves.com. Be sure to sign up for his newsletter and webinars and scroll through his catalogue of past instructive presentations.

    A Cycling Wonderland

Cycling Corfu. Make no mistake, Corfu is very popular for a very good reason. It’s beauty and spectacularly clear lonian Sea attracts visitors in numbers that can be mind-boggling. But that is not to suggest that the entire island is congested, or even visited by tourists. The mountains are dotted with small villages, accessed by narrow, winding lanes with little traffic. In some areas, coastlines are protected by cliffs that make sea access difficult, thereby deterring tourism development. But it is exactly these lesser-visited areas that provide us the perfect cycling playground. Hundreds of miles of small roads, both paved and gravel, spread like a spider web across the mountain interior. Vistas from cliff faces and mountaintops will stop us in our tracks, then point us to our next destination. Cycling on Corfu is a magical experience, often unknown to the typical visitor. But we’ll share the secret, and you’ll learn that Corfu is much more than its reputation as a great beach destination. So much more.

    Exploring Corfu

Influence of the ages. Corfu’s history is a tale of diverse influences and conquests spanning centuries. Once under ancient Greek and Roman rule, the island later saw the imprint of the Byzantine Empire, the Normans, and the Angevins. The Venetians left a lasting architectural legacy, followed by French and British occupations during the Napoleonic era. This rich historical backdrop has shaped Corfu’s cultural identity, leaving an indelible mark on its architecture, cuisine, and customs.

Corfu’s enduring appeal lies in the harmonious blend of stunning natural landscapes, including olive groves and picturesque beaches, with a rich cultural tapestry steeped in the island’s history of diverse influences. Whether cycling through winding mountain lanes, relaxing on the beach, or exploring the island’s cultural and historical riches, Corfu offers something special for everyone.

    A Very Private Villa

A villa of our own. We’ll stay in the mountains, close enough to beaches for easy access, but separated enough to offer embrace our own private paradise. Luxuriously furnished bedrooms with private baths provide personal space, while expansive indoor and outdoor common areas invite the group to assemble and share experiences. At once, we’ll be a part of mountain and sea, connected to or separated from fellow visitors as we choose. We’ll explore attractions and sample local cuisine at favorite restaurants but will also enjoy meals prepared in our gourmet kitchen and lounge by our private pool. Our home for this week will ground us and nourish us and bring us closer to the Corfu that those lucky enough to live here treasure. For one lucky week in Corfu, we’ll call this villa home.
